2014
Introduction of ISO 15118-2
Introduction of Plug & Charge protocol, enabling seamless EV charging with authentication via power line communication (PLC). However, widespread adoption was slow due to the high costs and complexity of upgrading hardware, software, and firmware across the industry.
2022
Release of ISO 15118-20
ISO 15118-20 was released with significant updates, including support for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications and multi-contract certificates. While offering improved functionality, it required substantial system upgrades, making it incompatible with the earlier version.
2024
Release of Emobi JustPlug™
With 80% of chargers unable to support traditional Plug & Charge, Emobi’s JustPlug™ extend ISO 15118 communication to legacy chargers by leveraging secure cloud-based processes, bypassing the need for costly hardware upgrades.
